Obviously we all know the big J makes it out alive, but with the way this movie was set up, the emphasis on John 19:41 and the sad music in the end seems to suggest that JCS 1973 was really just a group of cultists hippies re-enacting the passion, only this time there was no resurrection but a sacrifice instead.
